design, construction, and gold leaf gilding of custom frames to complement
specific works of art comprise the majority of work performed by Gold Leaf
Designs & Gallery and artisan, Alan Shuptrine.
Early in his career as a craftsman, Alan faced a challenging order to
design and craft frames for four Henri Matisse original prints. He has
since served collectors, galleries, and museums throughout the United
States. Frames by Gold Leaf Designs & Gallery now adorn paintings by
such prominent artists as Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth, Hubert Shuptrine,
Elliott Daingerfield, Stephen Scott Young, Alice Ravenel Huger Smith, and

 The
opportunity to work in collaboration with artists and art collectors is an

Alan states, "Since we build frames from scratch, and since every frame
is one-of-a-kind, the possibilities are endless, and no order is beyond our
